What started out as T-Dizzle’s offhanded comment that “we should do something on election night” has snowballed into a /gulp themed election night get together.
So the night of the election we’ll be tuning into Bill O’Reilly crying at about 11.00 pm after having spent the night flipping channels, diverting ourselves with games and conversations, and surfing the Intertubes. The theme was not my idea I’d like to point out. I had just planned on taking the day after off so I could stay up until Ohio figured itself out (pronounced: 3 am). Then Back and Lady VanHart got involved and now it’s a Red, White and Blue theme. I guess I’m fine with that though because they intend on making food and I do not.
So, if you’re reading this and you already have our address, you are invited to the Corporate HQ of Forth and Back International. Unlike the last election, I hope to wake up happy the next day – seriously, my mother would not even let us say W’s name in the house for at least a month because she was so dissapointed.
Oh and this:

Forth, sometimes you are….ghey.

I love that song! And really, you couldn’t say W’s name? Little extreme don’t you think? I’ve decided that if Obama wins, I’m going to pull a Democratic move and move to another country, but then again none of the Dems who said that actually followed through. Ireland, looking pretty good right now.

Hmmm… a country without republicans… yes, yes I like it. Can you guys take W and McCain with you?

Well, I was kind of hoping that Susan Serrandon (Spelling), Michael Moore, and the rest of them would leave that way we could have been spared from idiotic remarks.
Sorry, I’m staying right here to fight!

If Obama wins it will be because of his association with ACORN and voter fraud. I wonder how many dead people will vote for him. We already know that ACORN registered the entire Dallas Cowboys offensive line in NEVADA!
What a crock!
TheBeardedMan // 15 October 2008 at 2:29 pm |
Ok, where to start. First of all, reports of voter fraud hit the media everytime there is an election and the “thousands” of fraudulent registrations ends up being a grand total of like 20.
Second, ACORN employs people who have low incomes or are unemployed. People who are relying on these jobs for the money and are not volunteers will inevitably cheat whereas volunteers can be a bit more relyable. This is a key source of whatever “voter fraud” might take place. It is not Obama’s master plan or whatever “association” he had with ACORN.
Third, and the most important thing to remember here is that as these registrations are processed, the Dallas Cowboys who are registered twice will most likely be caught. And if somehow Scooby Doo or Alf are sucessfully registered as voters, They Still Have To Show Up To Vote! Last time I checked, the guy with his hand up Alf’s butt still has to show a valid I.D. in order to vote.
And don’t try to tell me that there are NO Republicans who attempt voter fraud because that is just not true. They just do a better job of placing the spotlight on the Dems while they lurk in the shadows. What a crock indeed!

His third paragraph is really the only issue. Voter fraud doesn’t become voter fraud until they vote. Prior to that it is really just registration fraud.
If I had the time or energy I’d go track down articles about investigations of voter fraud throughout the years.
Interesting side note: There is a credible theory that Edgar Allan Poe’s death came after he was drugged and boozed up (not that this is hard with him) on election day. When they found him he was in ill fitting clothes and not carrying any identification. People used to get people drunk, change their clothes frequently so they wouldn’t be recognized and have them vote repeatedly throughout the city. Now THAT is voter fraud.

In the state of Ohio, you don’t have to show ID. Maybe you’ve heard of the showing your electric bill, water bill, any type of bill that is associated with an address that somehow proves you live in that state. Yeah, the Secretary of State in Ohio is now under FEDERAL investigation for the problems going on in her state regarding voter fraud.
Now comes the fun part…
ACORN’s PAC endorsed Barack Obama for President stating in Feb that “ACORN’s political action committee endorsed Barack Obama for President…The endorsement reflects a belief that Obama-who worked as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago understands that change must come from the ground up, as part of a working coalition, rather than from position papers.” I find this funny, because even Obama admitted in his book “Faith of my fathers” that when he was asked what a community organizer did, he couldn’t answer the question cause he didn’t even know. Working coalition instead of position papers? Thats all Obama has ever done is write position papers.
Barack Obama’s campaign paid more than $800,000 to ACORN for GOTV (Get of the Vote) .
Barack Obama directed Project Vote and also taught classes for “Future Leaders Identified by ACRON and the Centers for New Horizons.” In 1992, Obama helped direct project vote. In 1992 Obama was then hired by ACORN to run a “voter registration effort”. Obama then became a trainer for the group.
Obama was a part of team of lawyers who represented ACORN in a suit against the State of Illinois. The lawsuit failed was against the State for failing to implement a federal law designed to make it easier for the poor and others to register voters. Not to vote, to register vote. Shady, yeah just a little bit.
ACORN also received grants from The Woods Fund where Obama served on the Board along with Bill Ayers. Oh and yes, Bill Ayers did help Obama launch his political campaign, but according to Obama his just a guy who lives on the same street.
Do you remember back on Septermber 17th of this year when Obama said “I need you to go out and talk to your friend and talk to you neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I WANT YOU TO ARGUE WITH THEM AND GET IN THEIR FACE.” Sounds a lot like a tactic ACORN uses when registering votes. I also punched a guy when I was back home in Denver who would leave me alone on the street. He was from moveon.org and when he kept hounding me about registering (though I told him I already was) I turned around and told him if he didn’t back the fuck off I was going to punch him.
Lateala Goins who was hounded by ACORN said in court after being subpoenaed that “You can tell them you’re registered as many times as you want-they do not care. They will follow you to the buses, they will follow you hom, it does not matter.
So Bearded Man as for your second point. These people who are working for ACORN because they have low incomes, I hope they realize that there a FAR better jobs out there, more honorable jobs out there than just working for ACORN. But wait they fall in that 95% that will recieve a tax break even though they probably don’t pay taxes.
SPREAD THE WEALTH Y’ALL!

and this http://www.ohio.com/news/break_news/31101144.html
oh and if Republicans were ever involved in any type of voter fraud scandal it would be ALL over the news. I have worked voter registation stuff before when I was with the College Republicans. We did our voter drives through the State of Colorado, we would not associate ourselves with ACORN during the 2004 election.
This is my 3rd Presidential election that I’m voting in and my 3rd Presidential (5th election all together) that I have either worked on or volunteered on. Not trying to sound like a pompus ass, but I know a little something about elections and ACORN…

For the sake of not feeding the trolls, I won’t say much. But I find it somewhat humorous that now the time is running out and the polls are looking bad for McCain you’ve already rationalized it away that “Welp, he must have cheated.” Perhaps people just haven’t been happy with the way the right has run this country and are out for something different they don’t think McCain can provide?
Nah, everyone must think like you right? So they’re obviously cheating.
For every link and youtube video you toss out with your tinfoil hat on about some massive ACORN conspiracy I can vomit up the same shit about Diebold/Premier in Ohio 2004 handing the election to W.
Voter fraud is a real thing, I don’t deny that, but to claim that suddenly the blues have the magical powers to turn this election is total bullshit. Don’t you think they would have pulled that at some point in 2004 maybe when possibly the most disliked president EVER by the left was up for reelection?
Nah, it only happens when you lose, right?
Dani I’m sure you know plenty about the election process etc having worked and volunteered for several, however, I’m assuming from your stance on things that you were always working for volunteering for the Republican side, so don’t you think what you learned from them might just be a liiiiiiiitle tiny bit biased?
By little tiny bit biased I mean like Fox News might be a little tiny bit biased.
Somehow I just don’t feel I fit in with these people:

and if that makes me a pinko commie, well then so be it.
Dani // 17 October 2008 at 8:29 am |
Actually Farmacy Man, I have done a lot of work with liberal groups. During the 2004 election the College Republicans teamed up with the College Democrats and this little group called Creative Resistance to hold a Get Out the Vote Effort. Hell, even my job now I have to work with liberal lawyers. I research both sides and can argue both sides quite well.
BTW, Gallop has the polls numbers really close, like 47 to 45 last time I checked. Besides polls do not represent the entire country. They take a group of 1000 people and ask them a question. I for one have never been called to par take in a poll.
Hmmm, Foxnews. Geez, thats funny cause I swear to god the other night Bill Kriston and Fred Barnes called the 3rd debate for Obama. Oh yeah and I don’t watch Foxnews news, I want all news channels and the majority of the time I’m watching the food channel, history channel or something other than politics. I deal with politicis day in and day out with my job. I watch the news for 9 hours while at work (well kind of) when I get home the last thing I want to watch is politics, I’d rather watch re-runs of Family Guy or go for a run than sit around watching the news.
Dani // 17 October 2008 at 8:30 am |
Bill Kristol sorry.
